SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — College of the Canyons won his third conference tourney in as many outings with four Cougars ranking within the top-five of individual standings including medalist Haruka Koda.
Canyons improved to 15-0 on the young season while topping Monday's field by an impressive 35 strokes. COC carded a four-player score of 310 to win the event followed by tourney host Santa Barbara City College (345) and third place Antelope Valley College (429).
Koda, the reigning Western State Conference (WSC) player of the year, has looked every bit the part this season. The sophomore has medaled in her last two events after her even par round of 70 at Santa Barbara Gold Club on Monday.
COC sophomore Jessie Lin, the defensing Southern California regional champion, has next in the club house with a round of 75..
Sophomores Shabana Poswal (81) and Paige Heuer (83) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, to round out the Cougars total. Fredeliza Lieberman (97) competed but had her score dropped from the final total.
Winners of three straight, Canyons will look to continue its conference win streak at WSC play resumes on Monday, Sept. 30, at San Dimas Canyon golf course.
The Cougars will also compete at the annual North-South Invitational Sept. 22-23, at Morro Bay Golf Course. The annual event will provides teams from across the state with a preview of the course which will host the 2019 CCCAA State Championships
