VALLEY GLEN, Calif. — Freshman midfielder Lesly Cabrera gave College of the Canyons an early 1-0 lead, but it wasn't enough as the Cougars eventually played to a 1-1 draw vs. L.A. Valley College on Tuesday.
Cabrera's unassisted goal, her fourth of the season, came in the 24th minute and made it a 1-0 game. She has now scored goals in three of the last four matches.
Canyons (9-5-4, 6-2-3) was able to hold on to its lead heading into halftime.
However, the Monarchs (7-8-4, 5-4-2) evened things up in the 55th minute on a goal by Emily Arzeta to make it 1-1.
The score would stay knotted with the two teams eventually settling for the draw.
