College of the Canyons had 16 players named to the 2017 Southern California Football Association (SCFA) National Division, Northern League All-League Team, highlighted by freshman quarterback Andrew Brito's designation as the Offensive Player of the Year.
Canyons, which placed second in the conference standings, was recognized with eight players earning All-SCFA First-Team honors and seven named to the Second-Team.

Brito led the SCFA through the regular season with 2,854 passing yards and ranked second with 27 passing touchdowns. He also added 170 rushing yards and three more touchdowns on the ground. In COC's bowl game vs. Mt. SAC, Brito finished 26-of-45 for 217yards and three touchdowns, and ran for another, to earn game MVP honors.
Brito was joined on the First-Team offense squad by Holmes (52 receptions, 912 yards, seven touchdowns, 17.5 ypc), tight end Hunter Schuessler (19 receptions, 225 yards, four touchdowns), utility player RB Marlow (31 receptions, 417 yards, seven touchdowns) and offensive linemen Tate Renaud and Carlton Lorenz.
Running back Keland White (88 carries, 720 rushing yards, nine touchdowns), wide receiver Jarrin Pierce (49 receptions, 764 yards, five touchdowns) and offensive lineman Travis Bird were each Second-Team honorees.
On the other side of the ball it was defensive ends Dorian Gerald (42 total tackles, 10 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles) and Noel Iwuchukwu (42 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, one interception), along with Latu (46 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, six tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, two interceptions) who earned First-Team honors.
Safety Shaddrick Lowery (38 total tackles and two forced fumbles), inside linebacker Alonso Reeves (54 total tackles, one sack, 7.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions), punter Travis Reiner (48 punts, 1945 yards, 40.5 avg.), and punt returner Brandon Pierce (eight returns, 231 yards, 28.9 avg., one touchdown) were all included as Second-Team defense honorees.
The Cougars finished the 2017 campaign with an overall record of 9-2 and 4-1 mark in conference play to trail Northern League champion Ventura College.
The Cougars won seven of their final eight games, including five straight to close the season. COC averaged nearly 39 points and 500 yards of total offense in the regular season, scoring more than 40 points in six contests. Canyons also limited opponents to an average of 26 points and 363 yards of offense.
After narrowly missing out on a trip to the state playoffs, COC defeated Mt. SAC 28-16 in the Western State Bowl to give the Cougars their first nine-win season under head coach Ted Iacenda.
