Cougars Football Has Eight Players Named to Academic All-State Team

College of the Canyons football has been recognized with eight players from its 2025 roster named to the California Community College Football Coaches Association (3CFCA) Academic All-State Team.
"Having eight players earn Academic All-State honors is something our entire program takes pride in," said Canyons football head coach Ted Iacenda. "These student-athletes have embraced the challenge of competing at a high level while making academics a priority. They are a great example of what it means to represent College of the Canyons."
To be included on the Academic All-State Team players must earn a GPA of 3.5 or better. The 2025 team features 162 student-athletes from 29 programs across the state.
Representing Canyons on the 2025 3CFCA Academic All-State Team are:
- Tony Testa, Linebacker — 3.9
- William Struyk, Kicker/Punter — 3.82
- Tory Cabral, Linebacker — 3.8
- Deandre Kermah, Wide Receiver — 3.8
- Koy Mortensen, Defensive Back — 3.8
- Judah Plett, Defensive Back — 3.8
- Christian Abounayan, Tight End — 3.6
- Logan Scarlett, Quarterback — 3.6

On the field, COC also saw eight players earn All-League awards, with three players recognized as First-Team selections. Offensive lineman TJ Taylor was later named to the CCCFCA Region III All-State Team. Canyons (4-6, 4-3) finished the 2025 regular season fourth in the eight-team, recently realigned SCFA National Division, Central League standings.
