Sione Taufahema begin his fifth season with the College of the Canyons football program in 2025, bringing a deep-rooted connection to the program, a strong football pedigree, and a passion for player development. A former standout defensive lineman for the Cougars, Taufahema now serves as the team’s defensive line coach, mentoring student-athletes with the same energy and commitment he brought to the field as a player.

Taufahema began his coaching career at St. Genevieve High School, where he served from 2018 to 2020, helping to develop young talent and instill a competitive culture. He returned to his alma mater at COC in 2021, reuniting with head coach Ted Iacenda — the same coach who mentored him during both his high school and college playing careers.

A product of Bishop Alemany High School, Taufahema played both center and defensive line, receiving multiple honors during his high school career. At the collegeiate level, Taufahema earned All-SCFA Second-Team honors in both 2015 and 2016 as a defensive lineman. His performance earned him an opportunity at the Division I level with the University of Arizona, where he went on to earn a bachelor's degree in sociology from. 

In addition to his coaching duties, Sione Taufahema works on campus in the college's Maintenance and Operations Department, continuing to serve the college community in multiple capacities.
