MISSION VIEJO, Calif. - The COC men's basketball team squandered a nine point lead in the second half and fell to Long Beach City College 68-64 in the opening round of the Saddleback Tournament.
Canyons tied up the game, 64-64, at the 3:42 mark of the second half on a 3-pointer from Jaylen Bland. On the following possession, Long Beach made it a one-possession game on a quick layup, but the Cougars missed four field goals and had a costly turnover as time expired.
Bland notched 24 points and was the only COC basketball player in double figures.
