SANTA ROSA, Calif. – The College of the Canyons men's basketball team needed a blistering second half performance to clinch the Kris Kringle Tournament championship in a 69-59 victory over host Santa Rosa College on Saturday night.

The Cougars rallied after being down 11 points at the break, outscoring Santa Rosa 43-22 in the second half to pull out the victory.

COC forward Tullio Parry's game-high 24 points and nine rebounds led the Cougars. As a result Parry was named to the All-Tournament team.

Canyons guard — and tournament MVP — Coley Apsay's all-around game continued to shine, with the sophomore pouring in 18 points, five rebounds and seven assists.

Joining Apsay and Parry as All-Tournment teams selections was Canyons forward Ricardo Greaves.

By returning home as tourney champions head coach Howard Fisher and the Cougars have now won three straight games — and four of the last five — to sit at 7-4 on the season, with the start of the Western State Conference (WSC) South schedule right around the corner.

Canyons will try to ride this momentum into this weekend's 25th Annual Cougar Holiday Classic taking place Dec. 27-28 at the Cougar Cage.

COC will then begin its Western State Conference (WSC) schedule vs. Antelope Valley College on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
