As has become tradition, the College of the Canyons men's basketball program tipped the season as hosts of the Eighth Annual 'Clash at Canyons' tourney.
Cuyamaca College, East Los Angeles College and Oxnard College also participated in the event.
Canyons (1-1) dropped its first round matchup 69-62 to Oxnard College (1-1), despite taking a six-point lead into halftime.
COC freshman forward Jason Horosny led all scorers in the contest with 17 points on a five-of-nine shooting night, to go with six rebounds.
Sophomore guard Jalen Ewell chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench and guard Victor Nwaba had eight points and 10 rebounds vs. the Condors.
