Cougars Take Top 3 Spots, Wins Fifth Straight WSC Tourney

SAN DIMAS — College of the Canyons tacked on another first-place victory in Western State Conference play, this time winning the tourney hosted by Citrus College at San Dimas Country Club on Monday. The Cougars also took the top three individual spots 

The win was the fifth straight conference victory and fourth tournament in which a Canyons players has taken medalist honors 

COC sophomore Paul Grimonpon took his turn claiming medalist honors, his first of the season, going two-under par for a round of 70. 

Two strokes behind at 72, Kieran Bye finished his round in the runner-up position. He was followed by Alexander Moores in a tie for third place, coming to the clubhouse with a round of 73.  

Overall, Canyons took first place with its five-man score of 372. Citrus (386) was next followed by Glendale in third (387), Santa Barbara (390), Ventura (399), Bakersfield (413), Allan Hancock (443) and Antelope Valley College (445) to close it out. 

Dom De Luca shared 10th place with his round of 77 and Xander Artois closed out the day for Canyons with a round of 80, good for a share of 20th place. Ben Stewart worked for a round of 82 but had his score dropped from the final tally. 

The Cougars will next see action on Monday, April 3 at the Rio Bravo Country Club in the WSC tourney hosted by Bakersfield. Tee time is set for 10 a.m.
