Canyons Wins at San Dimas, Three Finish Under Par

SAN DIMAS — College of the Canyons played to its fourth straight conference victory on Monday with a strong performance at San Dimas Golf Course, highlighted by three players finishing under par.

Canyons (72-6) carded a five-man team score of 356 to win the event. Ventura College (368) slotted into second place after edging Santa Barbara City College (368) in a card off. Tourney host Citrus College (377) was fourth in the field of eight teams. 

COC sophomore Ethan Posthumus finished the day at three-under-par with a round of 69, his best of the season. That round tied with Kyle Gordon of Glendale College for tournament medalist honors. Posthumus has now medaled in three conference events, including back-to-back tounaments.

Sophomore Owen Crockett was just one stroke off that pace, tying for third with his round of 70, good for two under par.

Ryan Giardino was next with a one-under score of 71, which placed him in a three-way tie for fifth in the field of 44 golfers.

Jacques Struyf and Carson Diaz both shot rounds of 73 for the Cougars, placing the duo in a tie with two others for ninth place. 

Anthony Nilson finished the day at 79 which tied him for 25th, but had his score scratched from the Canyons team score. 

COC next plays at the Western State Conference (WSC) event on Monday, April 21, at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai. 

The WSC Championships will then be held Monday, April 28, at Crystalaire Country Club in Llano.
