Cougars Win Again, Conference Streak Moves to Seven

SAN DIMAS — College of the Canyons had all four scoring players finish in the top six of the individuals standing to help drive the Cougars to a seventh straight conference victory at San Dimas Golf Course on Monday.
Canyons (78-2, 49-0) remains undefeated in conference play in its search for a fifth straight Western State Conference (WSC) championship.
COC sophomore Ed Beehag tied for medalist honors with his one-under-par round of 71. He shared that accolade with Mason Gredvig of Santa Barbara City College. Beehag's round of 71 equaled his lowest mark of the season while the medalist award was the first of the season.
The Cougars saw Jacques Struyf, Anthony Nilson and Arnaud Bouhaniche tie with three others with two-over-par scores of 74 to all finish sixth in the field of 48 players.
Thoe performances ensured Canyons (293) won the event three strokes ahead of runner-up Santa Barbara (296) with host Citrus College (298) in third. Glendale College (298) was awarded fourth place despite tying with the Owls.
COC freshman Chad Stevenson (75) tied for 12th in the field with freshman Kai Willen (76) just a shot back and slotting into a tie for the 19th. Both players had their scores scratched from the Cougars' final team scores.
Canyons will host its home WSC tourney on Monday, April 20, at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai.
The Cougars will then plan in the WSC Championships at Sundale Country Club in Bakersfield on Monday, April 27.
