SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons men's soccer team opened up the 2011 non conference season with a 2-0 victory on Saturday evening.
Arnoldo Macias and Uriel Rodriguez scored for the Cougars and goalkeeper Alex Burkevics had one save.
Canyons had a slow start and didn't net a goal until the second half of play. Macias scored COC's first goal of the season on a short bullet to the upper corner of the net in the 55th minute. Rodriguez made it 2-0 in the 89th minute with an assist from Maayan Schrager.
The Cougars will return to action on Wednesday as they host Chaffey College at 4 pm for another non-conference match.
