Canyons Heading Back to Postseason for 13th Consecutive Year
By Jesse Muñoz/COC Sports Information Director
College of the Canyons will continue its season with a 13th consecutive trip to the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs.
Canyons (22-18) will host Moorpark College (17-15) in a postseason play-in game at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, from Whitten Field. That game will be broadcast to fans free of charge via YouTube on the Cougars Sports Network.
COC concluded the regular season second in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division standings behind conference champions Antelope Valley College (29-11). The Cougars dropped their final three games down the stretch with two of those losses coming in a home doubleheader vs. Palomar on April 18.
Moorpark finished second in the WSC, North division two games behind conference champions Ventura College (21-18-1). The Raiders went 8-2 across their final 10 games.
COC and Moorpark last played on March 3, in a regular season meeting that saw the Cougars emerge with a 2-1 home win behind a complete game from starting pitcher Anais Perez.
