By Jesse Muñoz/COC Sports Information Director
College of the Canyons softball standout Jeniece Jimenez has been named to the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (CCCFCA) All-Southern California team.
Jimenez is one of 15 players from the SoCal region to be included on the all-region squad. The sophomore utility player is also one of just five players representing the Western State Conference (WSC).
A full listing of 3CFCA award winners is available here.
The All-Southern California team award comes on the heels of Jimenez earning a second straight All-WSC, South Division First-Team designation.
The Granada Hills Charter graduate led Canyons and ranked second in the WSC, South with a .488 batting average.
Jimenez also led the Cougars in on-base percentage (.561), slugging percentage (.778), hits (61), doubles (13), triples (eight), RBIs (38), runs (50), total bases (93) and tied for the team lead with 20 steals.
Those contributions helped Canyons clinch its 13th consecutive trip to the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs, with the Cougars able to defeat Moorpark College 5-2 in the bracket's play-in game earlier this week.
The No. 16 seed Cougars will next face No. 2 Cerritos College (31-9) in a best-of-three series beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1.
Jimenez is the program's first All-Southern California selection since 2023, when Allyson Melgar was recognized for her contributions both at the plate and in the circle.
The Cougars also had three players named to the all-region team in 2022, with Melgar joined by Ashlynn Heck and Lisa Motz in earning the same honor.
