College of the Canyons track & field student-athletes Antonio Moore and Hazel Rhodes will continue competing at the next level after committing to four-year schools earlier this month.
Moore is headed to California State University, Fullerton to join the Titans' track & field program. Rhodes is moving on to California State University, Long Beach to compete for the Beach track & field team.
Fullerton and Long Beach are both NCAA Division I programs competing in the Big West Conference.
The two Santa Clarita Valley student-athletes both enjoyed tremendous success under COC track & field head coach Lindie Kane during their respective two-year Cougar careers.
Rhodes won back-to-back 3C2A Individual State Championships in the 400m and a combined six Western State Conference (WSC) championships (200m/2006, 400m/2025 & 2026, 4x400 relay/2025 & 2026, 4x100 relay/2026) during her two-year run as a Cougar.
The Saugus High School alum is also a two-time WSC Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year honoree.
In 2026, Rhodes also won the 3C2A Southern California Regional Championship (400m). At the state championship meet Rhodes finished third in the 200m (24.08) and ran the final leg of the 4x400 relay, which also placed third (3:53.47).
Those combined performances earned Rhodes JC All-American designations in the 400m, 200m and 4x400 relay. She was also a 3C2A All-State honoree in all three events.
The back-to-back state titles claimed by Rhodes are the first in COC women's track & field program history, and only the second in school history. Rhodes is also the school record holder in the 200m (24.08) and 400m (53.99) with both of those times achieved during the 2026 season.
Moore won four WSC titles during his two years of competition, sweeping the hurdles events in back-to-back seasons.
As a freshman in 2025, Moore claimed conference titles in both the 110h and 400h events.
He went on to finish runner-up in the 110h at both the 3C2A Southern California Regional Championships and 3C2A State Championship meet.
Moore's time of 14.74 at the 2025 3C2A State Championships placed the Golden Valley High School graduate just behind state champion Ruben Delgado of Mt. San Antonio College at 14.60. Moore was named a JC All-American for his performance.
In 2026, Moore clocked a time of 14.57 in the 400h to place fifth in the 400 hurdles at the state championship meet.
