Cougars Defeat Mira Costa In First Game of the Season

WALNUT, Calif. - In the opening round of the Mt. SAC Tip-Off Tournament, College of the Canyons opened the season with a 76-59 victory over Mira Costa College on Friday.

Angelica Sahagun led the Cougars with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Jazzmyn Davis added 17 points and eight boards and Bev Weaver contributed 16 points in the win.

After a slow start that saw the Cougars lead 33-28 at the half, COC started to wear down Mira Costa, with their fast break style and outscored the Spartans 12-0 in one two-minute stretch.

The Cougars will face host Mt. SAC in the tournament semifinals on Saturday evening.
