Freshman Mia Ceja Named to All-WSC Team

College of the Canyons point guard Mia Ceja has been named an All-Western State Conference (WSC) First-Team selection after a freshman campaign in which she led the state in minutes played.
Ceja, who attended Sylmar High School, averaged 15.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game playing under COC first year head coach Robin Hester.
She logged a state-high 1,080 minutes played across 28 starts for the Cougars, good for an average of 38.6 per game. Ceja played 40 minutes, or more, in 16 games, including the final four down the stretch.
Her 424 points scored ranked fourth in the WSC, South Division and 33rd in the state. Meanwhile, her 49 three-pointers made was the conference's No. 3 mark. She led the WSC, South and finished seventh in the state with 117 made free throws.
Ceja reached double-digit point totals in all but one game, including five contests in which she scored 20 or more. Her season high came in a 31-point performance at Santa Monica College on Jan. 25.
