COC Battles SD Mesa To Scoreless Draw
The College of the Canyons women's soccer team ended Friday afternoon in a scoreless draw with San Diego Mesa College at COC's Upper Field.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons women's soccer team ended Friday afternoon in a scoreless draw with San Diego Mesa College at COC's Upper Field. With the tie, COC is now 3-1-2 on the year and San Diego Mesa falls to 2-0-3.
COC had a chance to score in the 21st minute on a Lizzie Rivas penalty kick, but SD Mesa's goalie reacted with a deflection. Canyons got the rebound, but couldn't capitalize with a goal.
SD Mesa had its own chance to score off a penalty kick in the 77th minute, but this time COC's goalie Katherine Koury notched the save.
San Diego Mesa ended the afternoon with a 12-9 advantage in shots and a 4-2 margin in shots on goal. Koury tallied four saves in goal for the Cougars, marking her fourth shutout of the season.
Canyons will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 24, as they travel to Santa Barbara for a 2 p.m. match.
