San Diego, Calif. – The College of the Canyons women's soccer team could not hang on to an early 1-0 lead, eventually dropping its first game of the season to host San Diego Mesa College, 2-1.
COC's Kelsey Sherry's first goal of the season, which was assisted by midfielder Yevenia Avilez, opened up the scoring for the Cougars.
However, San Diego Mesa quickly answered back with a pair of goals to complete their comeback bid.
The loss drops COC's record to 0-1-1.
The Cougars travel next to Oceanside, California to take on Mira Costa College on Saturday, Sept. 6.
