VALLEY GLEN, Calif. – College of the Canyons forward Jennifer Mendez scored two goals as the Cougars' undefeated streak continues after defeating Western State Conference rival L.A. Valley College 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Kelsey Sherry opened the game's scoring in the 18th minute of the game for an early 1-0 lead. Jennifer Mendez scored her fourth goal of the season eight minutes later in the 26th minute with a Marissa Kneisel assist.
The Monarchs would soon answer to cut the lead to 2-1 when Guadalupe Ramos scored in the 29th minute. The Cougars would take their 2-1 lead into halftime.
COC would put the game out of reach on Mendez's second goal of the game and Marissa Kneisel's eighth goal of the season making the score 4-1 and ensuring another Cougar victory.
The Cougars outshot the Monarchs 15 to 6 for the game, forcing nine saves from L.A. Valley goalkeeper Athena Del Rosario.
The College of the Canyons women's soccer team next travels to Bakersfield College, at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10.
