Canyons Women's Tennis Back in Win Column, 7-2 over Santa Monica

College of the Canyons got back in the win column after a four-match losing streak with an important 7-2 conference victory over visiting Santa Monica College on Tuesday.
The losing streak for Canyons (5-7, 4-5) came on the heels of a four-match string of success. Tuesday's win was the first for the Lady Cougars since Feb. 16.
COC was 2-1 in doubles competition and 6-1 in singles play vs. a Corsairs team that is still looking for its first win of the season.
Santa Monica picked up points in both the No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles matches but could get no closer.
The Canyons duos of Jennifer Russell/Ellie Wingo and Faith Abt/Marie Arana Llosa both played to 8-0 shutouts.
Russell in the No. 3 spot and Abt at No. 6 were both straight sets winners in singles play for COC.
No. 2 singles player Lexi Paunovic took her match into an extra frame before emerging victorious.
Wingo cruised in the No. 4 spot and Arana Llosa was a confident winner at No. 6.
