Women's Volleyball Earns Six Spots on All-Conference Squad, Hooper & Timmons Share Coach of Year Honors

College of the Canyons had six players named to the all-conference squad following a stellar season in which the Cougars were crowned champions of the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division.
COC sophomores Leah Gillie and Ana Vasquez were both selected as First-Team honorees.
Gillie, who also earned First-Team honors as a freshman in 2023, finished the regular season with 195 kills across 24 matches, with an average of 2.24 kills per set. She added 54 digs and a combined 71 blocks (19 solo) with 21 aces.
Vasquez recorded a team-best 258 kills across 24 matches, averaging 2.9 per set. Her 39 aces were a team best while her 181 digs ranked second. She totaled a combined 43 blocks (nine solo). The sophomore outside hitter/opposite had been an Honorable Mention selection a season ago.
Morgan Dumlao and Presley Golphenee were recognized as members of the all-conference Second-Team.
Dumlao helped orchestrate the offense to the tune of 493 assists, averaging 5.8 assists per set. She recorded 18 kills with 145 digs and 15 total blocks. The freshman setter's 35 aces from the back line ranked third on the team.
Golphenee earned her second all-conference selection at the libero position after tallying a team-high 280 digs across her 90 sets of action, good for a rate of 3.11 per. She added 73 assists and was second on the team with 37 aces.
Earning Honorable Mention selections were sophomore Celeste Anaya and freshman Sofia Miranda.
Anaya finished with 95 kills and 27 digs, while ranking third on the team with 49 total blocks (14 solo). She also added 12 aces to her stat line.
Miranda tallied 129 kills at a rate of 1.72 per set, with 12 serves. Defensively she added 55 digs with 24 total blocks.
Additionally, co-head coaches Lisa Hooper and Clay Timmons will share WSC, South Coach of the Year honors. The award is the seventh of Hooper's career (1999, 2000, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2022, 2024) and third for Timmons (2017, 2022, 2024).
The Cougars finished the regular season as conference champions after completing a near perfect 11-1 run through the WSC, South schedule. The title is the eighth in program history (1999, 2000, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2022, 2024) and second in the last three seasons.
Canyons (16-10, 11-1) moved on to play in the postseason for the 20th time in program history and the 10th occasion across the last 11 seasons.
Following an opening round bye, the No. 12 seed Cougars were defeated by No. 5 Orange Coast College 3-0 (25-6, 25-17, 25-14) to conclude their season.
