2013 College of the Canyons Cross Country News
The College of the Canyons men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in the California Community College Cross Country State Championships on Saturday morning at Woodward Park in Fresno, with both squads finishing among the top-10 schools and COC freshman runner Dominique Dowell earning Junior College All-American honors.
The College of the Canyons men’s cross country team knocked off five-time defending conference champion Glendale College on Thursday afternoon at the Western State Conference Championships in Oxnard.
The College of the Canyons men’s cross country teams finished in second place, while the women’s team came in fourth place at the Western State Conference Preview Meet in Ventura on Friday afternoon.
Freshman Rodrigo Orenelas captured his first career victory, while freshman Dominique Dowell paced the women with a third-place finish, on Friday afternoon at the Bakersfield Invitational.
In a meet that featured four-year programs, the College of the Canyons cross country teams fared well with the men placing fifth and the women 10th at The Master’s College’s Mustang Challenge on Saturday morning.
The College of the Canyons cross country teams continued its early season success on Saturday afternoon at the Fresno Invitational at Woodward Park when the men's team finished in fourth place, while the women came in sixth place.
In the first competition for the College of the Canyons men's and women's cross country program, the teams finished in second place at the Ventura College Invitational at Arroyo Verde Park on Friday afternoon. Freshman Rodrigo Ornelas led the men's team and took home the top individual stop, while freshman Dominique Dowell came in fifth place for the women's team.
