Canyons Sees Five Selected to CCCBCA Academic All-State Team

College of the Canyons baseball saw five student-athletes from its roster named to the 2026 California Community College Baseball Coaches Association (CCCBCA) Academic All-State team.
To qualify for inclusion a nominated student-athlete must be a second-year player in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
Representing the Cougars are:
- Reid Farrell/Outfielder — 3.90
- Tyler Hawn/Pitcher — 3.84
- Kotaro Kuwatani/Infielder — 3.57
- Jung Jun Lee/Outfielder — 3.75
- Chad Stanchfield/Pitcher — 3.65
All five players are included in the college's 2026 graduating class.
Additionally, Farrell was also one of six Student-Athlete Academic Excellence Award winners honored during the COC athletic department's annual awards banquet. On the field, he earned All-Western State Conference (WSC), All-State and All-American honors.
Hawn led the Cougars with 15 starts and 76 and 2/3 innings pitched, with 39 strikeouts along the way. Kuwatani posted a .273 batting average while primarily serving as the club's everyday shortstop.
Lee batted .299 across 22 games with five doubles. Stanchfield worked in 51 and 2/3 innings on the mound and finished second on the team with 26 strikeouts.
As a team, Canyons (18-22, 11-10) finished in a three-way tie for third in the WSC, South Division.
More than 330 student-athletes representing 44 programs from across the state were included among the honorees. A total of nine WSC schools were included in that total.
